The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter Review

September 13, 2016

Hi, I wanna talk about my first cleanser lately. I purchased this because I heard many great reviews about Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm. Great product always comes with the dupe one :P. I think the opportunity cost theory is true in real life, people will choose the cheaper one if they can get the same quality. Which means they can get the same pleasure with the lower budget. Sometimes the dupe isn't good as the original one, but sometimes the cheaper price become a winner, hahaha.
I haven't tried Clinique TTOD because It's quite hard to get in here. I don't live in a big city *LOL. That time I really need cleanser that can take my whole makeup. I don't really like to spend amounts of cottons for taking my makeup as first cleanser. The Body Shop is the brand which is quite easy to get, I think in every mall, there is TBS counter. So, I got this one because I heard it's great too for taking makeup off. Okeee, let's move to the review.
This is the packaging, a flat round cans. I don't complain about the packaging because I don't need to worry if I drop it anytime*LOL. But, it hasn't include with spatula :(. I took it with my hand so when I took it after I touched my full makeup face the dirt transfers on there, huhuhu. That looks so gross :(
Ethylhexyl Palmitate (Skin Conditioning Agent), Synthetic Wax (Binder/Emollient), PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate (Skin Conditioning Agent), Olea Europaea Fruit Oil/Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil (Emollient), Butyrospermum Parkii Butter/Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter (Skin Conditioning Agent - Emollient), Caprylyl Glycol (Skin Conditioning Agent), Tocopherol (Antioxidant), Parfum/Fragrance (Fragrance), Aqua/Water (Solvent/Diluent), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Limonene (Fragrance Ingredient), Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil/Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil (Emollient), Anthemis Nobilis Flower Extract (Natural Additive), Citric Acid (pH Adjuster).
To be honest, I didn't really notice about how they wrote the ingredients list. It's behind the claim label *LOL. I'm always including ingredients list anytime I write a product review if I can't find it on the packaging/box, I will google it. Then I know from someone's blog that the ingredients part is behind the label. Right, I'm the one who didn't notice about that, I even didn't think to peel the label to search the ingredients list *LOL.
It has already hit the pan. If you look carefully, you will see the residue from my foundation. They claim a sumptuous cleansing butter. However, I think it's a wax which melt into an oil. It feels slippery and oily but it takes my foundation, sunscreen and any makeup on my face except waterproof makeup like waterproof eyeliner, mascara, and eyelashes glue. It's hard to take eye makeup. It didn't 100% clean my face so I still need second cleanser of course. But, overall it can melt my makeup off even it didn't get the cleanest face result. I didn't wash off with a cloth, I'm not fan of face towel or cloth for washing face. I'm always drying my face with tissue. Maybe I'm not hygienic freak but for face I take it concern more than other parts of my body. If I should use face towel to wash my face, I must to do laundry and change it everyday. I feel lazy to change my face towel everyday *LOL.
I only wash my face with water after doing massage or sometimes I just leave it for 5 minutes then washing it with water. In the beginning, I washed it with lukewarm water because it's oil based cleanser but I was going lazy after that, so I wash it with cool water. I think that's still fine, I can took my makeup and the balm without feeling slippery. Even I'm not suggesting you to use this cleanser alone, you still need to wash off with facial foam after that. But, I think it helps a lot for taking my makeup off. The smell is flowery maybe it smells camomile, I don't really know how camomile flowers smell. The smell isn't really strong. Because I'm not fan of strong smell fragrance for any face product and I still can handle it.
I'll show you how this cleansing butter work for cleansing my face!

My makeup wasn't really on point in that picture because it had already late night, but I still had layered foundation, powder, etc. Btw, my skin is oily combination if you're curious.

Look, how my face looks gross and so oily. I think I didn't take a lot for my whole face. I remember that I bought that on February, 2016, it has already six months. You can massage the butter on your face but if you don't massage that, it still can melt your makeup.
The result after I washed my face with water, see! the eyeliner and mascara still look mess in eye area. To be honest, I still remove it with fresh gel makeup remover from Silky girl. After that, I'm washing it with washing cream from Menard then to make it sure that my face is really clean I use micellar water.
Another good thing about this product, it didn't make my face is irritating or purging. I know for hygienic reason, the cleansing balm isn't really hygienic, especially for me who is taking it with fingers. However, it didn't  make my face itchy like if my face refuse any product. I plan to buy the cleansing oil if it run out. TBS Camomile cleansing oil has a pump bottle which is more hygienic.
Maybe for the one who has already tried Clinique TTOD will say it's not the real dupe from Clinique but I like it. I only need to apply, leave it, rinse and done for 1st cleanser. It's really practical. Who's with me?

The verdict

- It's really practical for removing makeup
- easy to get
- it wasn't irritating my face

- the unhygienic reason
- it didn't really take my waterproof makeup

Who have tried it? I love to know how it's working on you or maybe you have tried the clinique TTOD :)
